Lakeside receives 5-Star Recognition

Manitowoc, WI October 13, 2005 --
Lakeside Foods received a 5-star recognition from the Wisconsin Committee for Employer
Support of the Guard and Reserve at its annual shareholders' meeting in June. James
Rebholz, state chair of the Wisconsin Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and
Reserve and Brigadier General Bruce Schrimpf of the Wisconsin National Guard presented the
award in front of over 70 shareholders and invited guests. |

| In 2004 Lakeside established the
Military Reserve Appreciation Program, in honor of Dan Blitz, for his 55 years of service
as a member of Lakeside's Board of Directors and for his military service during World War
II. At the Shareholders Annual Meeting this year, Lakeside was recognized for this program
by the Wisconsin Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. Lakeside's
active support of employees in the guard and reserve, including making up pay lost during
active duty call-up and continuing health and dental coverage for dependents at no cost,
all for up to one year, were cited. In receiving this recognition, Doug Quick, Lakeside's
president and CEO, said, "The Company is proud of its employees who serve in our
country's armed forces and the sacrifices they make to help secure the freedoms we
enjoy." |
