Manitowoc, WI September 20, 2005 --
Lakeside Foods announced several initiatives they are undertaking to help victims of
Hurricane Katrina. It provided a truckload of canned vegetables, joining a group of
Manitowoc area companies, led by Koenig & Vits and the local Red Cross, to bring
needed supplies to the Louisiana and Mississippi coasts. In addition, in conjunction with
Topco, Associated Grocers and Safeway, Lakeside's retail customers who serve the Gulf
Coast, Lakeside has sent eight truckloads of canned vegetables to this hard hit region.
Finally, the US Department of Agriculture has asked Lakeside to gear up its canned meat
and canned vegetable production in order to support the recovery effort."All of us
here at Lakeside are grateful for the opportunity of helping out those who have lost so
much due to Katrina," said Doug Quick, Lakeside's President and CEO. "It's great
to see how people throughout the country and the world have rallied to provide assistance
to those who have undergone this great ordeal." |
