RE: Doug Quick Announces Retirement as CEO of Lakeside Foods

Manitowoc, WI  July 2, 2008 --

Doug Quick announced his retirement as CEO at Lakeside Foods’ annual shareholders meeting on June 30, 2008 in Manitowoc.  He will continue as Chairman of the Board of Directors in a non-executive capacity.  Dave Yanda will succeed him and serve as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Doug joined Lakeside in 1971 and served in various management positions until his election as President and CEO in 1986.  He was elected to his current position of Chairman and CEO in 2007.  During his tenure, Lakeside’s sales have increased over 640%, Lakeside’s payroll over 8 times and from 2 plants and 2 distribution centers to 15 plants and 8 distribution centers.  Doug serves as an Officer and Director of the Grocery Manufacturers Association and is also a Director of Associated Banc-Corp, Second Harvest of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance.  He previously served as a director of the American Frozen Food Institute, Shelf-Stable Food Processors Association (formerly National Meat Canners Association), and Midwest Food Processors Association.  He most recently was honored by the Grocery Manufacturers Association for entry into their Hall of Achievement.  The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the food, beverage and consumer products industries.  It is the industry’s highest honor and Doug is the first private label executive to have received it.

Dave began his Lakeside career in 1973.   After working in various production assignments at Lakeside’s Plainview, MN plant, he moved to the Corporate Office in 1976 to accept a sales position.  In 1986, he became Vice President of Frozen Food Sales and was elected to the Board of Directors.  He was later elected Senior Vice President and served in that capacity and as Corporate Secretary until his election to Executive Vice President in 2006.  In June 2007 he was elected President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company.

“This is a significant change for Lakeside,” said Doug Quick, “but not an unanticipated one. It is the completion of a succession transition process that we have been developing over the past years.  I have been working closely with Dave to coordinate our continuing strategic and operational programs in order to assure that this important change will be successful.”

“I have every confidence that Dave and the team that will lead Lakeside in the future are not only ready to continue Lakeside’s strong record of accomplishment but will take the Company to even higher levels.”

“I am very honored to be named to this position,” said Dave Yanda.  “Lakeside has a long and rich history.  I look forward to leading our company and working with the fine people who comprise our Lakeside team in the years ahead.  Lakeside, especially under Doug’s leadership, has become known throughout the industry as a provider of quality food products, both domestically and internationally.  Thanks to the efforts and dedication of all our people – both in the past and now – Lakeside is well positioned for continued success.”
