Manitowoc, WI July 2, 2008 --
Doug Quick was honored by the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) for inclusion into its Hall of Achievement. Established in 1984, the Hall recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the food, beverage and consumer products industries. In selecting Quick for this award, the GMA noted that, along with managing Lakeside Foods, he’s served state and regional food-processing industry associations, including the Wisconsin Food Processors Association, the Midwest Food Processors Association and the American Frozen Food Institute. Quick retired as CEO of Lakeside Foods on June 30 but will remain chairman. He has also served in numerous committee and board leadership positions as the National Canners Association grew and evolved into the National Food Processors Association and then the Food Products Association. Quick played a major role in the National Food Processor Association’s merger with GMA – a union that he said improved the clout and efficiencies of both organizations. Lakeside Foods, founded in 1887, is a privately held, leading international food processor. It has headquarters in Manitowoc, WI, fifteen plants and eight distribution centers in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Ohio, and employs an average of 1700 people. Lakeside produces a diverse line of nutritional food products including canned and frozen vegetables, canned dry beans (kidney, black, pork & beans, etc.), shelf stable meals, canned meats, organic products, health beverage supplements, non-dairy frozen dessert toppings, self-heating products, salsa and other sauces.
