Rear Admiral Henry F. White, Jr., USNR Retires

Annapolis, Maryland  July 31, 2004--

Several Lakeside Foods, Inc. shareholders attended fellow shareholder Rear Admiral Hank White's retirement ceremony at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Hank completed over 40 years of active and reserve naval service, retiring as Vice Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, the Navy's major operational command overseeing the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets as well as Naval Forces in Europe.

Shareholders in attendance were Bob and Pauline Langenfeld; Emmy White; Skip and Jane Pfeffer; Doug Quick; and Mary and Jim Ferguson.

After touring much of Washington D.C.'s landmarks, the group settled in for Hank's retirement ceremony that afternoon. Several active and retired Navy and Marine Corps flag officers were in attendance, including: Admiral William Fallon, Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command; Admiral Michael Mullen, Vice Chief of Naval Operations; Vice Admiral Rodney Rempt, Superintendent, U.S. Naval Academy; Vice Admiral John Cotton, Chief of Naval Reserve; and Vice Admiral Ronald A. Route, the Navy's Inspector General.

In his remarks, Admiral Mullen, Hank's Naval Academy classmate, praised Hank's actions as a true reservist who on September 11th stepped up to coordinate the Navy's and the Department of Defense's actions immediately following the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. Serving as Deputy Commander of the Navy's 2nd Fleet at the time, Hank transitioned at once from his civilian job to active duty and served in the City of New York's emergency operations center until relieved several days later.

After the ceremony, all the guests attended a reception at Buchanan House, home of the Naval Academy Superintendent. Admiral Rempt informed the group that this house is second only to the White House in the number of dignitaries it hosts.

In his civilian life, Hank is an attorney and the President of the Institute of International Container Lessors, the trade association for the worldwide, intermodal container and chassis leasing industry.

Lakeside expresses our thanks and best wishes to the Whites for a long and healthy "retirement".
