Lakeside Foods, Inc. has announced its intent to invest over $40 million in the expansion of its current packaging facility located at 1601 S. 30th Street, Manitowoc.
The planned expansion would include a 100,000 sq. ft. addition. The new space would consist of an expanded frozen warehouse and increased refrigerated packaging space for its operations.
Pending the City of Manitowoc approval of a new TIF district surrounding the current facility, ground breaking could begin as early as spring of 2018 with a project completion projected for spring of 2019.
The proposed expansion comes as part of a larger growth plan for the company. Joe Yanda, Sr. VP Operations for Lakeside Foods stated providing food products with exceptional quality and service is central to Lakeside growth strategy. The existing facility packages hundreds of millions of pounds of product per year for over 100 private label customers. The facility runs seven days a week to keep up with current demand and we continue to grow our business.
Lakeside estimates approximately 40 new jobs will be added to their organization and to the Manitowoc Community. Many of the new positions will include skilled operators.
