Lakeside Supports Food Pantries with 20,000 Cases of Product Donations
Manitowoc, WI (May 18, 2020) – Since March when the COVID-19 pandemic began, Lakeside Foods has donated nearly 20,000 cases of canned and frozen vegetables, worth more than $180,000, to food pantries in communities where the company has processing facilities.
“We understand the essential role we play in keeping shelves stocked with nutritious, shelf-stable foods not only at retail outlets but also at community food pantries during this unprecedented time,” said Joe Yanda, chief operating officer at Lakeside. “Our employees are invested in the communities where we operate, and they are proud to know that through their ongoing work they are helping to feed families struggling with food insecurity. Several of these donations were made because our employee teams saw a need in their communities and stepped up to help.”
Organizations that benefited from the donations include Ruby’s Pantry and Midwest Food Bank in Minnesota, Second Harvest Foodbank in southern Wisconsin, the Plainview-Elgin Food Shelf (Minnesota), 5 Loaves Food Shelf in Wisconsin, United Ministries Food Pantry in eastern Wisconsin, and Peter’s Pantry, Grow It Forward and the Lakeshore Technical College student food pantry in Manitowoc, among others.
Lakeside donates products throughout the year to food banks and pantries across Wisconsin and Minnesota and also has a partnership with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
